The historic Harris Hill ski jump was closed for renovations after the 2005 Fred Harris Memorial ski jumping competition. Four years of hard work by Harris Hill Committee, organizing, engineering, fundraising and finally construction, resulted in an all new ninety meter ski jump on the original Cedar Street site in Brattleboro. The landing is longer and wider, with the required low containment walls for safety. A wide steel trestle replaces the old, out-of-date inrun. The competition officials did their work in a new judges stand. On Feb. 14 & 15, 2009, the new facility was presented to athletes, families and fans with two wonderful competitions. The meet attracted competitors from all over the U.S., and organizers brought a small group of young jumpers from Austria and Slovenia. Mother nature cooperated with two beautiful days, and the athletes did not disappoint, producing many long jumps, including a few flights past the one hundred meter mark. See Harris Hill Web Site
